Bletchingley made a great showing at the Donyngs Finals Weekend on the 23rd and 24th of April, managing to get three of our players in five separate finals!
Peter Lines and Sheila Williams took the title in the Mixed Pairs, beating Steve Whiting and Doreen Taylor
Ryan Bickley won the Restricted Singles, beating Darren Rosser into second place
Trevor Pocock had a difficult weekend, ending up as runner up in all three of his finals. He lost out to Tony Buckee in the Men’s Singles Shield, and to Roland Simon in the Handicap Singles. In the Men’s Pairs, he and Paul Davis were defeated by Steve Whiting and George Hopper. Although to be fair, George became the national U18 Champion only last week so the competition was pretty tough…
Back in March, Brian Maskell won the New Bowler’s Cup, and he was presented with the trophy at the Spring Meeting. You do know you have to give the big one back, right Brian?
