MATCH REPORT
Earlier tonight, we played our first North Downs League game of the 2023 season and I’m more than happy to report that we picked up a maximum of 10 points in a 62-42 win.
The conditions were poor for most of the evening with persistent rain but the green held up well.
This season, I asked for our club to be competitive in our respective leagues and tonight’s performance was a great example of how competitive we can be. Everyone knows that we are short of lady-playing members but tonight our ladies really contributed to this brilliant win. For the first 7 or 8 ends of all 3 rinks, we were trailing Reigate Priory, but that’s when it all changed.
Lyndon, Brian and Christine M dug in deep on their rink and after trailing the game through 17 ends, they managed to grab a 2 on the 18th end to win 17-16 to help bring home the maximum points. Trevor, Jolene and Mike F played some really tough bowls in the back end of their match to win 17-12 and on my rink with Steve and Christine E, we picked up 14 shots in 4 ends to secure a 28-14 win!
