Bletchingley Bowling Club Christmas Party

Bletchingley Bowling Club’s Merry Christmas Celebration.

Read Time:3 Minute, 33 Second

Last night, we had our Christmas party at the Bletchingley Bowling Club. The party kicked off at 5 pm sharp. With Christmas songs belting out in the background, the bar was open, the tables were nicely decorated, and there were lovely snacks to enjoy. It was good to see past and present members catching up.

Pantomime

The evening kicked off with a short performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Julie narrated the play, with Wendy as Snow White, Christine as the wicked witch, Trevor as the mirror, Brian as the prince, and Mike representing the seven dwarfs.

The show was cleverly executed, using scenes and props to vividly narrate the story. Laughter filled the room, even from the wicked witch as she wreaked havoc on Snow White. However, in the end, the prince comes to the rescue, and Snow White lives happily ever after with the seven dwarfs.

Quiz time – sitting on a fortune

The next activity was a quiz game reminiscent of ‘Sitting on a Fortune,’ the one where Gary Lineker has a row of chairs. This was hosted by Julie. The contestant in the golden front seat, also known as ‘the money chair,’ answers general knowledge questions. A correct answer keeps them in the game, while a wrong one sends them to the back of the line, allowing the next contestant to take their place. The participant in the money chair at the end of the show will be the lucky winner of a prize.

The questions proved to be quite challenging, yet it was amusing to observe supposedly clever members shuffling seats each time they answered a question incorrectly.

The paper plate game

This game was truly hilarious (regrettably, no one thought to capture it on camera, perhaps for the best as everyone appeared quite absurd). Nevertheless, here’s a glimpse of what it looked like (see below). Picture an alien landing and witnessing this spectacle.

Plates on heads

The host, Trevor, instructed everyone to write their names on the top of the paper plate and then flip it over, placing it on their heads. Trevor proceeded to give a series of amusing instructions for everyone to draw on their paper plates (now on their heads) without peeking.

  1. Instruction 1 prompted them to draw a ‘Nativity scene with baby Jesus,’ and after 30 seconds, they revealed their masterpieces amid lots of laughter.
  2. Instruction 2 followed, challenging them to draw the ‘Three wise men visiting the manager,’ resulting in a hilarious mess after another 30 seconds.
  3. For Instruction 3, participants were tasked with drawing three sheep and a shepherd, leading to even more laughter when the plates were finally unveiled.
  4. The final instruction, number 4, instructed everyone to draw a star above the scene.

After all four instructions were completed, there was a burst of laughter and revelry as people shared their ridiculous drawings.

To conclude the fun activity, the plates were handed over to Trevor to select a winner.

Another general knowledge quiz

Trevor went around the tables, posing a series of questions from a quiz book to each participant. One by one, contestants were eliminated until a sole winner emerged, deserving of a prize, which was promptly handed out.

Thank you

Overall, the night brimmed with laughter, and everyone had a fantastic time. Despite a modest turnout, the evening proved to be a resounding success. We extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, as well as those selfless souls who orchestrated the evening, contributed to catering, managed entertainment, tended the bar, handled food service, and assisted with the cleanup afterwards.
