BLETCHINGLEY, SURREY – It was a monumental day for Bletchingley Bowling Club and a particularly proud moment for one of our own, Graham Bickley, who made his full county debut for Surrey today in spectacular fashion.
He was joined by experienced clubmates and fellow Surrey representatives Trevor Pocock and his son, Gavin Pocock. Together, the all-Bletchingley trio formed the backbone of the team, delivering a dominant performance to secure a fantastic victory for Surrey against rivals Hampshire.
As fellow member David , who watched the match, perfectly put it:
For Graham, this was the triumphant culmination of immense dedication. After the match, he was quick to credit his teammates, saying,
“Thanks @Trevor Pocock and @~Gavin for being a part of my first county game for Surrey today.”
This debut has been a year in the making. Graham earned his coveted Surrey county badge last year after a brilliant run to the Surrey singles quarter-finals. Now, wearing the Surrey colours for the first time in a team game is a milestone he, and our whole club, can celebrate.
And the excitement doesn’t stop here. Graham’s phenomenal form continues as he heads into the Area 3 Surrey singles quarter-finals, which will be held this Sunday at Chipstead. As Graham explained, this is a massive opportunity: “Potentially two wins away from National Finals at Leamington Spa on 13th/14th August.”
A Wave of Congratulations from the Clubhouse
David wasn’t the only one buzzing with pride. Messages of congratulations have been flooding in for the triumphant trio as the news spread. Here are just a few of the comments from around the green:

What an incredible achievement for Graham, and a powerful statement about the quality of players at Bletchingley Bowling Club. A huge congratulations to Graham on his winning debut, and to Trevor and Gavin for their stellar performance.
All eyes will be on Chipstead this Sunday. Let’s get behind Graham as he continues his quest for national glory!
